Biography

Ahonaa Roy is an Associate Professor of Sociology, Social Anthropology and Policy Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and Research Associate at the school of Social Sciences, University of Pretoria, South Africa. A Social Anthropologist, with MA and DPhil (University of Sussex), she has taught at the Delhi School of Economics, Department of Sociology. She was previously appointed at the Ministry of Health and has been a member of the National Urban Health Mission, Government of India. Also, a faculty of Sociology at the Delhi School of Economics. Ahonaa has been part of several projects with the United Nations, USAID, and Government of India. She’s a recipient of the Tata Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for South Asian Studies, University of Cambridge, and the British Academy visiting Fellow at the Churchill College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Among her publications, Gender, Sexuality Decolonization: South Asia in the World Perspective, edited volume published in 2020 (Routledge: NY) and Cosmopolitan Sexuality: Gender, Embodiments, Biopolitics in India (Cambridge University Press, 2022). She has also published in several reputed International journals.
