Admission criteria
The TOIndia summer school is designed to suit the needs of highly motivated students and professionals who wish to engage with an intensive set of courses focusing on politics, development and social change in contemporary India. Applications are welcome from:
• Students at Master and PhD level.
Student status will be extended to applicants who graduated in December 2023 or later and who are not currently employed full-time
• Professionals and researchers
• Undergraduate students (i.e. students who will not yet have a degree at the start of the School) who are enrolled in an area-studies university course focusing on India are also welcome, provided that they have completed at least one year of course.
It is required to all candidates a good command of the English language (B2 and above). Although not mandatory, the possession of a Bachelor’s degree (such as the laurea triennale for Italian students), an international linguistic certification and previous studying or working experience abroad will also be taken into consideration during the selection process.
Application procedure
The total number of participants to the School is set at 30, including both students and professionals.
In order for their application to be considered, applicants must complete the Google form (only once). Depending on your status (student or professional) there are different documents you have to upload.
Students
Students are required to upload:
• An updated CV
• A copy of their University degree or certificate testifying their graduate status
• An academic transcript
• Any other relevant documentation the applicants may want to include (copy of a Bachelor’s degree, motivation letter, linguistic certificate, etc.)

The TOIndia Summer School office will begin accepting applications from the 18th March 2024 to the 10th of June 2024.
Auditors
Anyone can apply to audit one or more sessions. Unsuccessful summer school applicants too are welcome to re-apply as auditors. The maximum number of sessions a single auditor may attend is three. Attendance for the whole day (i.e. both morning and afternoon sessions in the same day) is €100.
Those wishing to apply as auditors should send an email to the School secretary (toindia.to@gmail.com ) indicating which sessions they would like to attend (day, time, lecturer). A CV should be attached. All accepted auditors will be contacted by e-mail regarding the teaching methods used and will be informed on how to participate in the lecture.

Selection process and successful applications
When all necessary application documents are received by the TOIndia office, the secretary will place them in an individual file and make sure all compulsory requirements are met.
If this is the case, the file is passed on to senior scholars who will conduct the selection process. Official confirmations will be sent individually to each applicant. All applications sent by the closing date (10 June 2024) will be examined and the results will be communicated by the 20th June 2024.
To confirm their participation in the programme, candidates must formally accept and submit proof of payment of the school fees within 7 days after receiving the notification. Please make sure you check your SPAM inbox. Upon their reception, the TOIndia office will confirm the allocation of the place. Applications who fail to send such a confirmation and proof of payment within a week from the notification of their successful application, will have their offer withdrawn.
Tuition fees are 350 Euros for students; 450 Euros for professionals (VAT included). All successful applicants may pay their full fees within 27th June 2024.
