Alf Gunvald Nilsen

Biography

Alf Gunvald Nilsen is a professor of sociology at the University of Pretoria. His research focuses on social movements and the politics of democracy and development in the global South, with a particular focus on India. His most recent books are Adivasis and the State: Subalternity and Citizenship in India’s Bhil Heartland (Cambridge University Press) and Indian Democracy: Origins, Trajectories, Contestations (Pluto Press).
