Biography

Born in Sewa village of Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. MA, MPhil and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi after completing his initial education at local schools and colleges. Teaching at JNU since April 2007 after teaching at Delhi University and Pondicherry University. Presently Associate Professor at Center for Indian Languages, JNU. Recently, he has been appointed as a member of the JNU Academic Council and JNU Court. Visiting Professor at Ankara University, Ankara (Turkey) by Indian Council of Cultural Relations, 2018-19. Visiting Professor at the University of Turin (Italy). Published 6 books and more than two dozen research articles. Two research projects under the UGC Research Award (2014-16) and University with Potential of Excellence. Awarded with Dalit Adivasi Samvad Lekhan Puraskar 2011 and Rukmani Devi Yuva Puraskar 2017. He has participated as a keynote speaker in about 100 national and international seminars. Regular writing in newspapers and magazines. Participation as an expert in news channels. Founder-editor of the magazine ‘Adivasi Sahitya’. Course coordinator of the online course ‘Evolution and Development of Hindi Language’ for the Swayam platform, funded and operated by the Government of India.
